Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy covers the SpeedTest website (the “Website”) and SpeedTest mobile application (the “App”). “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer of SpeedTest.

2. Website browser test

When you start a browser test, the Website sends HTTPS requests directly from your browser to Cloudflare speed-test endpoints to measure latency, download, and upload performance. Cloudflare receives your public IP address, request timing, user-agent information, and other standard request metadata. Cloudflare operates independently and may process this information under its own privacy policy.

The Website does not send completed test results to a developer-operated account or analytics service.

3. Browser local storage

The Website stores up to 10 recent browser test results in your browser’s localStorage. A stored result contains the test time and measured latency, download speed, and upload speed. This supports the recent-results table and remains in that browser until you clear site data or the browser removes it.

4. App data stored on your device

The App stores up to 100 recent speed-test results and app preferences locally using Apple’s on-device storage. We do not operate an account system or developer-controlled server that receives this history. You can delete test history from the App’s settings. Removing the App deletes its local data, subject to device backups controlled by you or Apple.

5. App network requests

The App contacts third parties only as needed to provide a feature:

• Cloudflare: speed-test downloads, uploads, latency, and reachability checks.
• ipwho.is: public IP address, network organization, and approximate IP-based location.
• Apple Maps: map display for Geo IP results.
• User-selected or listed hosts: Ping, Route, LAN Scan, and Game Ping destinations.
• Apple App Store: a native rating prompt and normal distribution services.

These services receive information normally required to complete a network request, including your public IP address and standard protocol metadata. Their own policies govern their processing.

6. Information not requested

SpeedTest does not require your name, email address, account credentials, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, payment information, or precise GPS location. Geo IP uses approximate public-IP information, not device GPS.

7. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current Website does not include third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking. The App does not include advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, third-party analytics SDKs, or developer-operated analytics. A future hosting provider may maintain standard security or access logs; review that provider’s configuration and update this policy before enabling additional services.

8. Local-network permission

On iOS, LAN Scan needs local-network permission to look for responsive devices on the current Wi-Fi subnet. Results remain on the device unless you choose to share information outside the App. You can change permission in iOS Settings.

9. Retention and deletion

Browser results remain until site data is cleared and App history remains until it is cleared or the App is removed, subject to backups. Third-party providers determine retention for requests they receive. We do not control their logs.

10. Children

SpeedTest is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information through a developer-operated account or submission service.

11. Security and international processing

Network requests use HTTPS where supported. No system is completely secure. Third-party services may process requests in countries outside your own, according to their infrastructure and policies.

12. Changes

We may update this policy when the Website, App, providers, or legal requirements change. The revised page will show a new effective date.

13. Contact

For privacy questions, use the developer support contact shown on SpeedTest’s App Store product page. Do not include passwords or other sensitive information in a support request.
